Use the search bar at the top and search for "Internet" or "IE" ?
Just a wild guess...haven't tried it myself.

To get clarity, do you have IE10 installed?
You say that Revo does not list ANY IE app in the list?
Yet you are finding IE10 updates?

Hans earlier mentioned to use Revo to remove all traces of IE so you can do a clean install. If you do not have any IE on your system, remove the updates too and do a fresh install of IE11.

Sorry, when I uninstalled IE11, IE10 came back. That's visible now (no updates); I can uninstall that but that will probably bring me back to IE9 which I can't uninstall as that is part of WIn7 (I believe)... So I should uninstall IE10 too then??

PS. Can't get used to Chrome (yet); right click to create shortcut on desktop is not possible. If I create a shortcut via the menu, that opens in a window without menus or address bar... strange. I still like to get IE11 back...

Good point. It is strange to open in a window without the address bar and shortcut bar.

A simple workaround.... drag the address (in the address bar) onto the Explorer Button (do not release mouse button). When Explorer pops up, continue to drag to the Desktop location and release. A newly created desktop shortcut will be created on the desktop that open the location within a proper Chrome window.

Not sure how you do this but it fails for me.
"Update: I got it... select the URL and drag it to the desktop... nice!"

Another thing... I often forward a link to someone else via email... Piece of cake in IE, I've no clue how that would work in Chrome...

Anyway... Should I try to uninstall IE10 as well?

See Google Chrome: Add a Send Link Button to the Bookmarks Bar.
There are also extensions that add Send Link to the context menu, for example Send Page or Send Link by Email or Gmail.
Best wishes,
Hans

If Windows Explorer is open, you can drag it straight onto the icon on the taskbar (without releasing the mouse button). Then when Explorer pops up, move to the desktop and drop it there. This prevents you from having to restore the Chrome window each time you want shortcut on the desktop.

Regarding uninstalling IE. If IE10 is working, I don't see the need to uninstall it?! If you want to go back to IE11, it could be recommended to uninstall completely (using Revo) and then installing IE11 to try avoid the issues you encountered previously.

I want the latest (and most safe) version of IE back. That's v11, not v10. So next I'll attempt to uninstall v10. Will keep you posted.

OK, uninstalled IE10, rebooted and then (from IE9) reinstalled IE11. Pffff. this time it worked fine and now I'm back on IE11.

However... my original problem is still there, I have Google as search engine, when I type "Eagles" in the URL field and hit enter, the string changes to "https://www.google.com/search?q=eagles" but then nothing happens.. there's no "enter" after that string however so I then need to manually hit the enter key again... I'll try with Bing as my search engine next maybe

Do you use instant search? I.e. do search results show in a dropdown list as you type? If so, try turning off instant search, at least temporarily to see if it makes a difference:

Thanks Hans,

I had just tried Bing and found things worked there. Then I compared Bing with Google and found that "Search Suggestions" was enabled in Google... I switched that off and now it 'seems' to work... (just as you suggest too). I need to test some more but it looks (finally) fixed... :clapping:

Here is the option I was posting...worth a try?!

Start IE in safe mode by opening the Run dialog ([WIN]+R)
In the dialog type: iexplore -extoff
Now type and address and enter once to see if that helps.

Running IE in safe mode disables all add-ins that sometimes can cause issuers with normal program processes.
