Sound on Messenger update

Post by Ted Myers »

I have been in contact with MS Support for 2 hours, they finally suggested:-
Alright, I would suggest you to please reset your Windows
How to reset your Windows 10 PC
Navigate to Settings.
Select Update & Security.
Click Recovery in the left pane.
Windows presents you with three main options: Reset this PC; Go back to an earlier version of Windows 10; and Advanced start up.
Click Get started under Reset this PC.
Choose Keep my files.
Choose Cloud install.
-
Will I loose items on D: Drive partition? I will copy them just in case.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

It is always wise to make a backup in such situations, but resetting Windows with the option Keep my files should leave your D: alone.
Best wishes,
Hans

I have been making restore points almost daily but not sure if it would help as I rarely use Video calls on my laptop.
My other option is upgrade to Win 11 as this laptop is compatible.
My dilemma is, I have this pc working & looking well and not keen to change.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.

A restore point only saves your software configuration, not your data files.

If you're going to reset Windows anyway, this might be a good moment to upgrade to Windows 11 since you'll have to do it at some point. But it is not essential - Windows 11 currently has no particular advantages above Windows 10. So the choice is up to you.
Best wishes,
Hans

I have always stored my data files on more than 2 places. When I got this laptop & a Chromebook I doubled my storage to 4 usb hdd's.
This does not include MS OneDrive.
I have been assisting an old friend with his 3 pc, he accidentally upgraded one to 11, personally, I'm not amused.
If it wasn't for bad luck I'd have NO luck at all.
