I read that Windows 10 creates restore points when new apps or updates - including Windows updates - before those changes are made. If this is true, is there any reason to schedule creation of restore points? If so, why; and how often should they be scheduled? I'm thinking once a week, but that is a total blind stab in the dark.

You can configure it as follows:
- Click the Start button or press the Windows key.
- Start typing system restore
- Select 'Create a restore point' when it appears in the search results.
- You'll see whether the feature is currently on (enabled) or off (disabled).
- If it is on, you can click Create...
- If it is off, click Configure..
- Select 'Turn on system protection'.
- Specify how much of your disk can be used for system restore points.
- Click OK.

Don't forget that System Restore is disabled with every feature update. You must re-enable it,

Re: Creating Restore Points
It's not my fault.
Acer put the keys in the wrong place.
Either that, or I'm trying to make BobH look like a luddite (grin!)
Cheers

Re: Creating Restore Points
I have yet seen the System Restore turned off by any up date, monthly or seasonal.
But I do have a habit of checking after most.
