Win7/64
I just connected another monitor (DELL U2713) which has a native resolution of 2560 x 1600 (connected via HDMI).
In Win7 the device manager sees the monitor correctly, the drivers are up-to-date. Windows tells me the recommended resolution is 1920 x 1080...
The system worked with this screen (DisplayPort) a few hours ago with the 2560 resolution (so the system is capable and so is the video driver)...
What is my problem here? How can I force Windows to reset what it thinks it knows about my monitor???
Monitor resolution too low

Re: Monitor resolution too low
I checked some more and I seem to see this in the driver INF file... Why would that be?
Update: 1920 seems to be the max resolution for HDMI... huh? DP does 2560...

Sorry Hans, I think I found it already. My laptop's HDMI is OK, it's the screen :-(

Dual-link DVI: 2560 x 1440 at 60Hz
VGA: 2048 x 1152 at 60Hz
HDMI: 1920 x 1080 at 60Hz

Re: Monitor resolution too low
So I have a new problem now...
My laptop only have HDMI as output. In order to go to 2560 on my screen I need to go from there to either DP or DVI.
All cables I find that go from HDMI > DP expect DP on the laptop and HDMI on the screen (not what I want)
If I look for HDMI > DVI (Dual Link) the highest res I see is 1080 (FullHD), that's also not what I need.
Now what?

Browse here:

Other brands are available but StarTech seem to be reputable.
