Noticed that the Restore Point protection had been turned off by the 2004 update. Might be worth checking

The early "big" updates to Windows 10 tended to revert many settings back to their default, but recently they have left my preferences intact...
Best wishes,
Hans

Makes one wonder just which of the 100's of Settings may have been changed

FWIW, each Insider Preview build disables System Restore on my PC. Enabling it is one of the things I do with each install. Other than that, I agree with Hans that Windows 10 generally does not change my preferences.

Since its not an obvious turn-off, I wonder how many 1000's of users have no System Restore possibilities. Apart from Insider Preview, perhaps only specific pc brands are effected or maybe its just a case of 'coin tossing'.

Interesting find, Joe. So one would think that Restore points are re-enabled if the disc sizes are greater than 500GB and with plenty free space, as are ours.
Perhaps this is just a 'get out' clause when things go AWOL.

NO. The article says by default System Restore should be disabled on all WIndows upgrades. Further, a restore point will be created for a .msi or Windows update install of Windows if the disk size is greater than 126GB as if SR was enabled. It does NOT say the System Restore will be enabled.
