Windows 10 comes with a basic photo viewer/editor: Photos. I like it better than the old Windows Photo Viewer - give it a try.

If you prefer the old photo viewer, it's still available:

If you didn't upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 but have a clean install of Windows 10, you'll have to change some settings to use Windows Photo Viewer. See How to Make Windows Photo Viewer Your Default Image Viewer on Windows 10.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
Best wishes,
Hans

yes its still there for people who upgraded... Ive bought a brand new desk top

Ive tried the photo but it did nt have the slide show option in the same way as the simple windows photo viewer
but I realise there is a slide show option at the top of the screen...

and it does have a few features like enhance.... crop.... etc

maybe youre right and photo is the next step

there are ways for me to get the old viewer but it involves messing about in the registry ... I d probably mess up
this brand new comp if I tried !

I loaded a photo in both Photos (as comes with Windows 10) and the Windows Photo Viewer. Of the two I would prefer Photos. Having said that, my default viewer is Irfanview which certainly, IMHO, offers much more in the way of options.

Bob

yes, I use irfanview a lot, mainly to trim pics

one good thing about photo is that it plays gifs... with my old laptop I had to call
up bs player to get them to work !
