Windows 10 survey

Post by viking33 »

Did anyone receive a "survey" from Microsoft Insider Program today or just recently?
My Spam program thinks this is a scam but it looks legit after a quick look at the message data.
Haven't responded yet.

Does it look like this?

I certainly wouldn't trust it Bob. See http://whois.domaintools.com/instant.ly

I would always be suspicious of someone who wrote:
"Survey results are anonymous unless you choose to provide your name."

That's the exact one, Rudi.
So far....one yes and two cautious replies.
I'll follow Stuart's link to see what that says.

The survey is widely being discussed on the internet, including Microsoft forums (but no reaction from Microsoft employees). Opinions about its legitimacy are divided, but most agree that the questions are weird, and even many who think it's genuine didn't want to complete it.

Some report that the message's footer contains a typo: "You received with email because you signed up for the Windows Insider Program". That would be rather unusual for Microsoft...
Best wishes,
Hans

I checked Stuart's link.
It comes back to Microsoftemail.com, which links to an Instant.ly domain, which links to a United Sampler domain in Los Angeles, CA.

BTW, the domain is For Sale for $89,000.00 if anyone is interested?

I GUESS it's real but the survey is farmed out by Microsoft. I went to the first page and was immediately turned off by the pertinent questions about the responders location. I decided to pass on this survey and checked out.
Wonder how many other Loungers received this and responded?

Well I'm glad I'm with a lot of others who agree about this rather insulting thing!
That typo was indeed included on the bottom of the page in fine print.

I too opened the survey, scanned the questions and then closed the page as I was not too interested in dishing out my email, and company details; where i work and what i do...etc!

It's odd that the letter is addressed to "Hello Windows Insider", that is a definite clue to it being a phishing attack. If they were writing to their subscribers then you'd expect them to address you by name
