Free Versions for upgrade:
From here: Gizmo's ArticleThere will also be two editions of Windows 10 that will be available as free online upgrades to existing licensed PCs. Consumers and small businesses that have PCs running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 or Windows 8.1 will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 Home. Consumers and small businesses with Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate, and Windows 8.1 Pro systems will be offered a free online upgrade to Windows 10 Pro. There is some kind of one year limitation on getting a free upgrade that I still find murky.

Moved from the Windows General forum to the Beta Software forum, which is where we discuss software that is not yet released.

Re: Two Interesting Windows 10 Details
The Windows 10 release date is July 29. You have one year from that date to freely upgrade to Windows 10. After one year upgrades will not be free. Once upgraded regardless of a free or paid upgrade all fixes and enhancements to Windows 10 are also free for the supported life of the device on which it is installed.

Any thoughts as to the MS definition of "the supported life of the device on which it is installed" ?JoeP wrote:The Windows 10 release date is July 29. That is the phrase all the Microsoft spokespeople are using. I've not heard or seen any further explanation.

Re: Two Interesting Windows 10 Details
Thanks Joe. Guess we'll simply have to wait for the MS explanation. Wonder if this support cycle (whatever it may be) will be the same for a purchased copy of Win10 as for the "free" version.
