When iOS 12 came out a week or 10 days ago, I obediently updated my iPhone 6. I now regret having done so. Even with practically no usage, the phone loses 60-70% of its charge in less than 24 hours. Before this last upgrade, I had no problems with depleting battery charges.
Has anyone else experienced this firsthand?

Re: iOS 12.0 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Apple released iOS 12.1 this past Tuesday. I do not know if it addressed any battery issues, but my iPad is running as expected.

Re: iOS 12.0 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Thanks for the info.
I had not experienced any of the battery charge issues before iOS 12.0 despite having read a lot about the issue and charges that Apple had intentionally caused the problem to make older models obsolete. It hit me hard with 12. I'm downloading 12.1.0 as I type this.
One of the things mentioned in the article from Leif's link is that if the battery capacity is less than 85% it should probably be replaced. Mine is at 79% max capacity; so it looks like I have some decisions to make about upgrading or just replacing the battery.
Anyone have anything to share about iPhone X models?

Re: iOS 12.0 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
Hi Bob,
Whenever I upgrade my iPhone to newer firmware, I generally work my way through various settings to check if anything I don't like or want has been reactivated; esp. those that keep the phone constantly active (like background apps eating away at the battery as they scan and update data behind the scenes). Bluetooth also seems to get activated and lies dormant unless you explicitly switch it off.
Here is a useful article to work through which will inform you of settings and options to disable that gnaw at your battery life. Making any adjustments based on this advice will certainly improve your battery life.
See here for a full report/run-through on the iPhone X (superceded now by the iPhone XS).
Cheers

Thanks, Rudi!
I've been through settings but might have missed something. I'll give that article a read to be sure I've thought the points through.
I'm still debating whether to get a new phone or just replace the battery. My ip6+ is getting pretty old but I'm not certain that the X series offers anything worth the price.
Decisions, decisions . . .

Thought I should report that I installed the 12.1 iOS and the rapid battery depletion has abated to a great degree.

The iPhone X and XS have no home button. You'll need to get used to swipes and gestures. If you don't want to go that route yet, the iPhone 8 is still there.BobH wrote:Decisions, decisions . . .

I think a trip to the store might be in my future. Not at all sure about no Home button
