I don't use Win 8 but you could try this:Pat wrote:I have lost the sound icon on the task bar, how do I restore it?

If you right click on the taskbar and select Properties, a screen will open with CUSTOMIZE about halfway down....click it
At the bottom you will see "Turn System Icons On or Off" and "Restore Default Icon Behaviors". You will also see a list of things in your taskbar that you can show or hide...
If your Volume isn't in the list to Show or Hide, click on Turn System Icons On or Off at the bottom and make sure it's box is checked.
If none of this works, try Restore Default Icon Behaviors...

Re: Sound icon
Thank you Bob,
I had one into that by other means but could not change the Sound icon to show.
I went in just now after a restart and voila.
I am way past those days, but I love your grain of salt saying.
