You think the Outback is huge? How about the towns?
The Toronto Star home page has this startling report this morning.
I spoke with my Brother-in-law in Innisfail last night; he said it was bad, but no wonder.
Who knew towns in the outback were so big, eh?

Bad reporting / punctuation - The floods are covering an area the size of Germany and France, the towns are normal size

Methinks the Toronto Star needs a new copy editor. I knew times were tough in the newspaper business but I didn't know that it had forced them to use children (for surely that is a very juvenile mistake) in editorial positions.
The bad reporting aside, if the information about the area affected by the floods is even close to being accurate, our friends in Oz are really up against it. One can hardly imagine the economic loss caused by such massive flooding.

Well, yes, but there again I don't know everything.HansV wrote: I think Chris knew that...
Unlike some people I could mention.
Still and all there's Townsville.
France is not all that big. I read (in the Toronto Star!) that people cycle around it in about 26 days, give or take.
Make a nice vacation.
Assuming the route goes through Nice.

Bob, you know how I hate to argue with you (grin), but they don't need a "new copy editor".BobH wrote:Methinks the Toronto Star needs a new copy editor.

I used to be a part time copy editor and there were a few times where I'd point out the cludgy headlines only to be told "just make sure the spelling is correct." Okey dokey.....

Sorry.
I hope that all our ozzie lounge friends are out of harm's way out there and let us know if we can send some, um, towels or something.
