How to digest a concrete bridge

Post by ChrisGreaves »

Time-lapse video of the Jamieson Street bridge being removed in Toronto.
I have NO idea why they dump piles of muck on the bridge at the start of the sequence only to cart them all off again.

Those machines seem to act uncannily like scorpions! - I think the 'muck' you're talking about is the broken up road surface?

There's a remarkable resemblance to a colony of ants...

Possibly. The upper deck would be a logical place to store it until the truck drivers arrive from the donut shop.
My first impression was that the piles looked too neat and tidy (like roadbed sand), but I guess that 4" chunks of anything would look neat and tidy at that distance.

My thoughts, too, Hans!

We watch ants and know of their social organization and the end result of their work as survival, but we tend to dismiss any more meaningful importance to their activities. Makes me wonder their is not some more advanced form than we are who views our activities - and dismisses any meaningful importance in them.
