All the episodes of the History of English Podcast - and they're only as fast as the Great Bowel Shift. I'd stand well away.
As fast, or as far, or were you thinking of another word? Episode 129 perhaps?

"The History of English Podcast" - it's what Long Winter Nights are for.

(the site appears not to respond as I type this ...)
Cheers

Sorry, as far as ... although a great bowel shift can happen very quickly.

I'm aware that episode 129 is about Chaucer's vulgar tongue. I'm sure he would have had many words to.desxribe aforesaid bowel shift.

Episodes 141 - 143 are the shifty ones

Simple question for my simple mind:
It seems that the Universe is interconnected like one giant brain ... perhaps with similarities to our Chris  Since we live in our Milky way 'edge on', how can we be sure it is a spiral galaxy.

Because we can see the band of the milky way across the sky with a much lower density of stars either side. And because when we look around the universe there appears to be just spiral galaxies and elliptical galaxies or odd shaped galaxies which are a result of spirals merging. If we were living in an elliptical galaxy then stars would be evenly distributed. We are very unlikely to be in anything other than a spiral.

Regards

Graeme

The only reason we have the 4th dimension of Time is so that everything does not happen at once.

... I take our Milky Way galaxy as a starting point.
Then today :

Astronomers unveil most detailed 3D map yet of Milky Way with the link to Gaia’s new data takes us to the Milky Way’s anticentre and beyond

I now have to mull over "anticentre" as applied to a galaxy. (Later: it turns out to be a euphemism for "Northern hemisphere folks" (grin))

(Later still) In the video "Exploring Gaia's 2020 data release" at the 0m33s mark I read that "The Sun's path is not a straight line but very slightly curved".
This is good to know because at the 0m28s mark I had learned that "The solar system moved on[sic] an orbit around the galactic centre"

Cheers
Chris

Not much chance of that, Dr Becky has made lots of Youtube videos.
Hi Graeme,
Dr Becky makes cooking videos too.
At the 20m55s mark of this video Dr Becky has essentially told me to walk down the hill to the Bonavista Convenience Store and bring back a bag of marshmallows and then microwave them.
Sounds :cooked: :yum: :munch:
And it's almost lunchtime ...
Cheers
