Knowing my luck, they'll close down Toronto's airport, just two miles north of here, as I make my way there. This is a view looking east, downtown Toronto in the background about eight miles away. Earlier this morning jets were visible passing above the school, top of the window frame.John Gray wrote:If you don't like the ghastly weather, why don't you move to a more clement part of the world?

Take me with you! Although there are trees on the golf course here on the border of Mississauga, I wouldn't miss them in the desert of sand.Claude wrote: I'm seriously considering buying a tent and live in the Sahara for a while.
This view would show the city of Mississauga, were it visible, to the west, with its tall condo towers.

I've already considered Yuma AZ, but Ms B won't lend me her car until after Easter. I took a photo of Lake Ontario, the pointy end at Burlington, just in case I need to take it out and look at the shimmering blue water once I get back to Earth.Rudi wrote:If you are looking for a bit more warmth, try Death Valley!

YIKES ! ! !
I am truly sorry, Chris!
If it is any consolation, the deepest snowfall I ever encountered in North Carolina was in May - more than 20 inches.

Ok, so an Aussie moves to Canada and has problems with the cold. That's unexpected ;-)

I didn't move to Canada; I got dragged here from Singapore by the nice (I thought at the time) Canadian girl I met in Paris and dragged to Singapore from Perth. If I'd not gone to Paris I probably would have returned to Adelaide from the UK.GeoffW wrote:Ok, so an Aussie moves to Canada and has problems with the cold. That's unexpected ;-)

Re: I AM GETTING B****** TIRED OF THIS!
So, yesterday I walked through Mt Pleasant Cemetery and spotted these buds on a shrub. It is too much to suppose that they are catkins or summat, but they looked promising and got my hopes up.Rudi wrote:Death Valley is cool
Those clouds in the background were harbouring rain driving in from the NW (therefore cold), and they not only looked threatening, but they were just enough to keep me walking instead of finding shelter, and more than enough to soak my jacket and shoes and dampen my ardour by the time I reached the David A Balfour park.
I have decided to drive to Pittsburgh next week.
It can't be any wetter or colder than Toronto, and I might be able to persuade Ms B to "Jump the Allegheny" again

Why would you want to drive ( or fly or walk\run ) to Pittsburgh?ChrisGreaves wrote:So, yesterday I walked through Mt Pleasant Cemetery and spotted these buds on a shrub. With apologies to anyone from Pittsburgh, past or present.

The boilermakers in Pittsburgh bars are awesome! Makes you forget about most everything else.viking33 wrote:Why would you want to drive ( or fly or walk\run ) to Pittsburgh?ChrisGreaves wrote:So, yesterday I walked through Mt Pleasant Cemetery and spotted these buds on a shrub. LOL! I had an orange creamsickle drink at the Pink Pony Pub in Gulf Shores, AL, Saturday that had that effect. But the surroundings were SOOOOO much nicer than Pittsburgh! (We zipped down there for 48 hours on the beach... amazing!)
