Like most others here in the lounge I never met Al, but, nevertheless, felt I knew him. Sad, sad news. My thoughts are with his family now and in the coming days. He was a real character and a helpful friend to all. I always looked forward to reading his posts and enjoyed visiting his website and viewing his photos. Rest in peace Al, you will be sorely missed.
Regards,
Keith

I have nothing to add to these heartfelt posts except to agree that I will miss his good nature and the place won't seem the same without Al.

I've edited the initial post to add a link to his profile, and to include his Facebook profile pictures.

I join my colleagues in mourning the passing of a true gentleman. He was wise, generous, infinitely patient with those of us who asked for assistance or advice, and someone who radiated youth and enthusiasm. Al never belittled the amateur, but made one feel as if one's questions were very important to him, and that he respected even the most tentative newbie. Vale Big Al. Rest in peace. My sincere condolences to Al's family.

It is with a great deal of sadness that I hear of BigAl's passing. He was someone that I came to admire and appreciate over the years through the two forums, Woody's and Eileen's as well as communicating via PMs. His parting will be greatly missed.

My sincerest condolences to his family.

Geoff, thank-you for taking the time and effort in checking into Al's whereabouts.

R.I.P. BigAl... you will not be forgotten.
Regards,
Bob

Thanks for the link, Bob. I just added a note to his Guest Book which I understand will only be available till the end of today, so if anyone else would like to add their own, please do so now.

Edited to correct the closing date to 2014. Really should get glasses.

Rest with the angels Al. He was truly a friend and mentor for me over the years and will miss his advice. Loved his sense of humor too. My prayers go out to his family and to all you guys as well. We have lost a great and kind person.

I've just received a message from Al's sister
Geoff, I was reading the comments for my brother on his facebook, his obituary guestbook and on 'Eileenslounge'. Not being a registered user in that forum, I am unable to post a response. Please let everyone know how comforting it is to see how many people were so fond of him. As his siblings, we were concerned that he wasn't "getting out" and spending too much time alone. It is clear to see that, although, he didn't go out he was certainly not alone. He had the good fortune to be in the company of MANY good friends. Friends that valued his knowledge, his wit and his feelings.
