laptop with at least 8hour bat. life

Post by stuck »

Is it unrealistic of me to want a laptop where the battery life starts off at at least 8 hours?

Mine does too, but it's relatively expensive...

I'm prepared to pay a high price if that's what it takes but at the same time I don't want to repeat the mistake that has been the Lenovo, which cost over £1000.

I'd also like the OS to be Win 11 Pro, not Home.

I recommend you take a look at the Dell Outlet. You can find some good deals there. The PCs are almost always either "scratch and dent" or refurbished like new. I have bought several that way through the years for home and business and have been very satisfied.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned HP. I don't know about their current laptop products, but I'm using one that is very long in the tooth with few problems. I do NOT use the battery as the system is connected to a large screen and remote mouse and keyboard. I have trouble using the keyboard and mouse built into the laptop, but that is a problem with 81 year old hands.

Ken, I came across refurbished Dell laptop today.

I don't know if it fits your pistol or if Woot ships to the UK, but thought I'd tell you about it.

For a CPU I recommend nothing older than the previous gen Intel or AMD processor. Current gen Intel is 13. If Intel at least a core I5. I'm not familiar with AMD so I can't tell you a CPU. Additionally, I recommend at least a full HD screen, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD. Anything beyond that is strictly budgetary or what your perceived storage needs are. As I post this, at the Dell USA Outlet there are XPS 13 laptops from about $700 to $1700 USD that meet or exceed what I recommend. If you purchase a PC with Windows 11 Home you can always find a cheap upgrade to Pro on the web.

Really? I thought those sort of offers were always less 100% legit. I thought the only safe way to go from Home to Pro was to buy from MS.

You don't have to buy from Microsoft. You can find some good deals on reputable websites. You just need to be persistent in your search.

Perhaps. I know nothing about the legitimacy of the website/store.
