Just got that version. I wish they would go back to allowing us to adjust the size of the window Ccleaner opens in order to run it.

It also needs to be added to Microsoft's safe app list.
Windows 10 does not like CCLeaner and one must force MS to allow one to install this new version!

I have Windows 10 version 1904 2004 and I don't have a problem installing CCleaner when a new version is released.
Best wishes,
Hans

I was just thinking and I seem to recall DaveA has loaded Windows version 2004 on his machines. I hope before we are forced to update to that version MS does fix it so Ccleaner can be used.

Hans do you mind if I ask why you are using version 1904 instead of ver. 1909? Do you know of problems inherent in version 1909? I ask because version 1909 has been out for some time now so it does make me wonder when someone like you shies away from it. When I say "someone like you" it is not meant as a derogatory comment, because I believe you can fix most any problem you come across. So that is why I am curious.

I don't think Hans is deliberately avoiding 1909:

Win 10 2004. Just downloaded CCleaner Slim 5.70. Got the following notification from Windows Security.

I also use Windows Security, but I didn't get such a message when I downloaded and installed CCleaner 5.70.

But others report the problem too - see 5.70 - Chrome detect download as "Virus detected" on the CCleaner forums.
Best wishes,
Hans

So you had no problem installing Ccleaner but others do. Is there a solution.

At the end of the thread there is a claim that the problem has been solved, but PaulB just reported that it still occurs.
Anyway, the makers of CCleaner are aware of the problem, so they'll probably release a fix.
Best wishes,
Hans

A scan of the downloaded file with Windows Defender produces:

Seems to flag Piriform's bundling software. But why on the slim version?

The standard free version does indeed come with an offer for 3rd-party software.
My guess is that CCleaner inadvertently left some of the code for this in the "Slim" version.

Hans

I keep seeing where it asks if you want to install, Avast, I think it is or some other anti-virus program. I accidentally did let it install one time and had to get rid of it.

The "Slim" version does not come with a prompt to install other software, so it shouldn't trigger Windows Security. Hence the guess in my previous reply.

Hans

I tried to find what "Slim" version" of Ccleaner means. My search took me to a download page and I still don't know what it is. What is "Slim" version" of Ccleaner and is it better than the one I usually download, which is the free version? I didn't see any charge for it but then I didn't try to download it either. Is it a paid version?

I think the Slim may be the FREE vs the paid for one?

Yes, I have it install, it just makes one to force the install.
