Don't you simply have to give Google lots of $, £, ¥, etc?

Re: Website SEO checker
That was indeed my impression.
That, or else you have to spend an hour or so each day responding to all those well-meaning folks who believe that my cruddy web site (and I wrote my own web-compiler, too; WHAT an insult!) is the reason that business were not beating a path to my door, and all the time I thought it was because I had pulled the plug on my abysmally poor marketing skills when I quit the field ten years ago!
The alternative to throwing $ at Google seems to be getting a few of one's web pages linked to from other popular web sites.
Cheers

Re: Website SEO checker
I already use Google adds but this can be costly, I am a smaller business guy and trying to get at least on the first page. My skills with websites are limited, so I was hoping to find a website SEO checker with some additional tools to assist me, any suggestions, assistance or thoughts is greatly appreciated.

There are companies which specialise in SEO for websites, but they also cost $lots.
(But maybe not so many $lots as does Google.)

Re: Website SEO checker
I think the most common thing is to not use Google since this will feed you more of what you already searched for, and use common sense when creating the web page. Even the layout is important such as not using tables but using HTML and CSS, all required attributes and dividing pages into logical sections. It is such fun to tweak a page and see it score well.
An alternative to Google is DuckDuckGo. They have gotten so good and will not save the results so you can search again for your own webpages from scratch.

Re: Website SEO checker
Its been almost 10 months since my last post. I try to make adjustments to my HomInspect.org website (mostly to the home page) and I am still nowhere close to the first page for my main product. I do have one page on my website that I did very little too (Texas REI 7-6) and it seems to make it to the first page in both Google and Microsoft Edge. Maybe simpler is better. I am now also trying Twitter and a few other platforms to draw more attention to my website. Any suggestions is always greatly appreciated.

Hello
Maybe we need to try to figure out why spammers do what they do? - I would have thought that Google and co had long since got wise to the random posting of URLs by Spammers, and yet Spammers still seem to go to the effort of doing things like registering an account just to add a few URLs. Apparently it’s very attractive for them to do it?
I have been monitoring for a year or so a site and watching where the spammers post URLs there, and I can’t see yet any logic to it.
I also watched where the search engines seem to go. Sometimes they seem to go to some places in a site more than other places**.
What I am thinking is that if you know a few people with web sites then you can have a “mutual self-spamming agreement” – you hide some links to some people’s site on your site, and in return they do the same for you, if you have a bigger site, then preferably put the links where the search engines go**. But this is all a bit dodgy as of course you are all then becoming Spammers of a sort, and Google and Co might notice that and somehow ban you and your site. You are taking a bit of a risk with this. I guess if you truly believe you have something worth seeing, then you can try and justify morally doing these dodgy things initially to get started. If you don’t you are at a disadvantage because so many bad people with bad sites do it anyway.
_._____
Another thing I was experimenting with was pretending not to have noticed some spammers, and then subtly later change the URL link they give to one of my choice, or possibly append a few**. What I mean is, you ban a spammer, but don’t delete his spam post, and change his spam link to one of your choice. But you could still be in dodgy grounds with this sort of thing. Do it at your own risk.
**And always be careful not to annoy real spammers too much. They seem to be usually one step ahead of the best of the good guys, so if they want to damage you, they will.
_.___
Another thing to consider, less dodgy, at least currently, is publicising your site with some YouTube videos. That is probably currently a very good use of that platform. Currently you can potentially get to a very large audience for free, and as far as I can tell, as long as you do it nicely, then YouTube don’t seem to mind at all you publicising your own site on videos. An awful lot of people do that. Of course the thing to bear in mind is that on YouTube you have no rights, and are at their mercy to take down your videos at any time without warning for whatever reason they choose. They do change their strategies a lot as it suits them, but currently it’s a good platform to use to direct people somewhere else. Possibly it’s a good idea to use it while it lasts.

I seriously don’t ever try to annoy. Maybe I am just the kid that missed being told about the King’s new magic suit, :(

Thank you for some suggestions. Noted I do have various YouTube tutorial video links on my website for at least a year.

On top of that, if you're looking to improve overall rankings, it's also important to optimize for Google’s algorithm updates and stay on top of trends.
