disconnect.me

Post by stuck »

I've come across a browser extension called 'Disconnect', made by disconnect.me:
    https://disconnect.me/
It has a 'recommended' status from Mozilla, meaning:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/ad ... extensions
so I'm confident it's OK to install but has anyone here used it?

Thanks,

Ken

I saw it mentioned in your Cambridge in Colour link, but I haven't tried it myself...
Best wishes,

I think I'll stay with Firefox's tracking protection set to Strict in combination with NoScript and uBlock Origin.

Yes, CiC is where I came across it. It seems it upset Google and the Android version was banned from the Google Play store soon after it first appeared:

I'll give it a try as I don't use NoScript (it's to geeky for the other user of the PCs in our house).

First test:
Logged into my Facebook account for the first time in months.
FF opens it in a dedicated FB container
uBlock indicates 1thing blocked, as does MalwareBytes Premium (NB MalwareBytes Premium is active because I'm on my Win 8.1 laptop at the moment. replacing this laptop with an up to date machine is still on my 'to do ' list)
Disconnect shows it's doing nothing, presumably because the FB container and uBlock and Malwarebytes have blocked everything already.

I've disconnected disconnect. It was useless at handling the vast amount of junk that's on the website of my local paper.
