Deleting iPhone backups does not free up hard drive space

Post by jmt356 »

I deleted 3 of my iPhone backups that were stored on my computer through iTunes. I expected this to free up space on my hard drive. It didn't. In fact, I lost 8 GB of hard drive space on my computer since last week. I don't know where it went. How can I get the deletion of iPhone backups to free up hard drive space?

I don't know but if I were you I'd first use Treesize:

to find out exactly which files are taking up the space on your disk. Armed with that information you should then be able to make a more informed choice about the best files to delete in order to free up space.

Have you emptied your Recycle Bin?

Note: If you want to permanently delete a folder and/or the contents without them going to the Recycle Bin, single-click-select it in Windows Explorer, then hold down Shift while you press Delete. (You will be asked to confirm.)
