why "Bing.com" cookies from EQ online banking?

Post by ChrisGreaves »

I have been puzzled by an online bank feeling the need to email me a confirmation code each time that I log on a couple of times a month (and to check ON "I trust this machine") and figured that it might be because I am deleting cookies at reboot each morning:-

Code: Select all

"T:\Appl\CCLeaner\ccsetup590\CCleaner64.exe" /Auto
So this afternoon I ran CCleaner to flush cache, cookies etc, logged on the my EQ bank account, quit Firefox and inspected cookies with the result shown above.

landfallgardenhouse is me (or will be when I get it up and running), but why Bing?

I thought that Bing was a search engine (which i don't use)

Is Bing possibly being used by a weird piece of online banking code?

Thanks for any elucidation
Chris

Bing is deeply integrated into Windows Search, so if you search for something in Windows, Bing will probably be involved, unless you completely disable web search.
Best wishes,
