CCleaner!!!!!

Post by Dave Davison »

Just stumbled on Tech Gumbo website that claims CCleaner was hacked big time and should be replaced with BleachBit (see here) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOwN2zTcmeE seeing I still have CCleaner installed, I'd appreciate the counsel of those I hold in high esteem especially when it comes to computing know how. :thankyou: Dave

Have you followed threads related to CCleaner, or done a search in the Lounge?

There have been problems with CCleaner since its developer Piriform was taken over by Avast, but most have been solved by now. I still use CCleaner and it is the most dependable of the "cleaner" programs that I have tried. As with lots of contemporary software, you have to go through its options from time to time to turn off options that you don't like.

Other loungers have mentioned Glary Utilities and are satisfied with it.

I haven't used BleachBit, so I cannot say anything about it.
Best wishes,
Hans

I've used CCleaner and lately Glary Utilities (Portable) without issues and with good results.

Recently Ccleaner was sending data to the makers and I was unable to disable it so started using the portable version.
I read somewhere it's use was not recommended so I started using the disk cleaner built into Windows pcs.
