Hi...........just got an email pointing to the Ashampoo free "Give away of the day" registry cleaner but the first comment says there is no need for such a download but one can use the free online "Tweeking.com" site stuff. Is this site kosher or is CCleaner all that one needs to run occasionally to purge unwanted cookies etc. please?

Just ignore ALL of these adverts and their offers. Nobody needs these things. Some of them will bring grief.

I second Stuart's comment. CCleaner is fine, don't install other registry cleaners.
