Hi

How do I get rid of these four tracking cookies forever?
  • AdBrite, AdViva, DoubleClick, MediaPlex
spybot flags them up as tracking cookies. I have set up Chrome to block these cookies, yet the turn up every week I run spybot.

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry too much about them, but if you wish, you can block these sites by adding a line for each of them of the form

127.0.0.1    adbrite.com

to your HOSTS file in C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc. It is a plain text file (without extension) that can be edited in Notepad.
Best wishes,
Hans

127.0.0.1 is the IP address of "localhost", your own computer. By referring those sites to localhost, they are effectively blocked from doing anything on your computer. See for example How to: Use the HOSTS file to block websites in Windows? for more info, or search Google.
Best wishes,
Hans
