Google Chrome Blocks:-

Post by Roderunner »

Hi Folks, I like to play this quiz https://www.howtogeek.com/trivia/in-the ... lled-like/ occassionaly.
I have not trouble doing so with IE, I can do if I temporarily allow 'NoScript' addon in FF portable BUT try as I might it wont work in my default browser G Chrome, all it has installed is AD Block Plus.

I have no problems with it in GC or FF. I have an ad blocker running in both with default settings on most else.
(My GC is up-to-date).

Have you tried the usual, clearing out cookies and/or running CCleaner to deep clean?

Hi Rudi, I have tried what you suggest plus a few other things including disabling AD B Plus. All failed.

What happens in Chrome? Does the page fail to load, do the buttons/links not work or something else?

Hi Rudi, when I click what I think the answer is, the box blinks slightly and nothing else happens.

When you say the box blinks slightly, do you mean the mouse-over animation highlights the box, but clicking any of the four buttons does not activate the "answer" info?

Hi George,

I doubt its the ad blocker. My ad blocker (uBlock Origin) is running in both browsers and I have no issues with the quiz or its functionality. I'm sorry, I wouldn't know what else is the cause of the issue? Google does not provide much in assistance with an issue for this specific quiz?

See if a reset on Chrome might work? (If you are willing to try it?)

Rudi

I use uBlock Origin, PureVPN and AdBlock Plus as Chrome extensions as well as Windows based ad blocking products and have no problems with that page, same Chrome version as Rudi has.

Like Rudi, I doubt it has anything to do with blocking ads. Looks to me like a java script problem. Looking at the page source is no help unless one wants to spend a few hours analyzing all the code and CSS.

Have you got another computer available to you from where you can try another copy of Chrome ?
Cheers, Claude.

My problem as above were on my Laptop. I have just tested the quiz on my Desktop PC and it works OK As I spend more time on my Laptop it tends to get used for experimenting a lot more but nothing too serious. Will report back later.

I have just attempted to play the quiz on my Laptop. Nothing happened, so I used the reset as advised. Once it completed, I rebooted opened GC and entered my details for my home page. On retrying the quiz still not working.

I decided to try the quiz once again just after posting my last thread but did not have time to give the result. It ??????
I was never confident that a reset would fix my problem as I sync everything in Chrome. This was something I never did when FF was my default browser.
Spoiler

Hi Claude, i'm afraid that will never happen. There are two more items on my pc's that fail to work sometimes, FileHippoAppManager, fails to connect to server even when I have internet connection, same for Secunia version 3.
