Google Chrome Sound & Vision synch

Post by RonH »

Got myself an 'interesting' problem. Pc is Windows 7.
When watching a stream (any) the sound is very slightly out of synch with the vision. So far I have disconnected various extensions, plug-ins etc without curing and just now I decided to uninstall/re-install Chrome ... but retaining my settings. Still the same problem  Between the uninstall and reinstall, I rebooted the pc.
All other programmes function correctly including my Internet Explorer.

Any of our Eileen folk had this problem and have a solution.
Thanks
Ron

This appears to be an old problem - see Issue 140620: Audio out of sync with Flash video. For some users, disabling Flash solved the issue, but for others it didn't help...

Hans

Scanning for this found a number of other hits with this advice:

1. Type "chrome://plugins/" into address bar
2. Hit details, in the top right corner
3. Disable Shockwave Flash 11.3 r31

However, as Hans says, this is old advice and may or may not work on your version of Flash.

Thanks for ideas folks.
I tried the Shockwave Flash disconnect but no improvement. I guess that I will have to 'tread water' for a while (also use IE) until maybe the next Chrome update to see if my problem gets cured.

I mentioned above that I had uninstalled/reinstalled Chrome ... but retained my settings. Is it of any possible value to completely uninstall Chrome and start again? This is a bit of a pain though to have to redo all the various settings

I very much doubt that that will help.

Agreed Hans ... guess I will 'sit back and wait' and in the meantime watch the cycling from Poland.
I have raised this issue in the Chrome Forums and if a solution comes forth I will post here.

Hei again,

Well I did watch the cycling but still 'thinking'.
These are the recent programmes updated ... both Chrome and VLC being re-installs by me.
With your knowledge, do you think any of them could be the cause of recent Chrome out of synch?

The only ones that could be related are the update to Chrome itself, and perhaps (but not very likely) Skype. The Adobe Flash Player update is for Internet Explorer, not for Chrome, and the rest has nothing to do with streaming content in Chrome.
You could disable the Skype plugin temporarily, and if that doesn't help, enable it again.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans.
Just as I was going to take a look at Skype they offered yet another update. No change to the Chrome synch ... IE 11 is looking good

Interestingly, I only have Adobe Flash as my Chrome plugin? The only other further down the list is Silverlight?

Yes, but Ron's screenshot shows "Adobe Flash Player 14 ActiveX". ActiveX is the version for Internet Explorer (only), all other browsers use the non-ActiveX version. Updates for Flash Player are automatically installed with updates for Chrome, you don't have to install them separately.

Hans

My Chrome, Rudi, is the same as you show.
The flash for Chrome does not appear in Control Panel/Programmes, only the one for IE.

Flash Player for Chrome is integrated with Chrome, so it doesn't appear as a separate install in the Programs and Features control panel.

Just an update ...
As of now I am the proud user of Chrome version 37 (64 bit beta).
I have all the Adobe (& Chrome) updates and ...
... I've still got audio/video synch problems  only on Chrome.
I have also checked to see if I have any installed programmes that may conflict with Chrome via this link: chrome://conflicts/ None identified.
The IE browser has certainly improved since I last used it

Cycling's on telly ... Bi
