Where is Setting to Open in Same Window

Post by BillW »

I'm working on getting going again on a new PC after my old one crashed. When I click on a link in a web page the new page opens up in a new window. I want the current window to go to the new location -- I think that Is the way it worked before the crash. I haven't been able to find the setting to make that change. Any help will be appreciated.

Which browser are you using? (Chrome, Edge, Internet Explorer, Firefox, …)

Internet Explorer. Sorry I missed the most obvious information needed in order to answer my question!

I have moved this thread from the Windows 10 forum to the Internet Explorer forum.

Click the Tools button (the gear icon) near the upper right corner of the browser window, then click 'Internet options'.
Alternatively, press Alt if necessary to display the menu bar, then select Tools > Internet options.
On the General tab of the Internet Options dialog, click the Tabs button.
Under 'Open links from other programs in', select 'A new tab in the current window'.
Click OK, then click OK again.

Thanks again Hans. I haven't been following up very reliably lately! I used your procedure successfully back when you posted it.
