Hotmail password.

I'm trying to help a 94 year old lady but I don't know IE or HotMail.

This lady has two PCs, a Notebook and an HP lap top. She accessed hotmail on both and someone had set it up so she didn't need to enter her user ID and password on either.

The Notebook broke and another friend (who is on vacation now) got her a new one. They set it up in the shop and somehow or other the password was changed. They didn't tell my friend what the new password is, they just set it up so hotmail/outlook opens logged in when she opens the notebook.

So she can't login to Hotmail/outlook from her HP laptop, which needs the password. I had a look at resetting her password but we don't know who has the email address they want to send the reset instructions. She doesn't have a cell phone so that option is out. There is a third option, filling out a questionnaire, which I did - but when I tried to send it I got an error - something like our servers are broken try sending later, and it didn't retain the data I had spent 5 minutes entering. {bar stewards}

So, that's the background. It occurs to me that the new password is saved on her notebook and that I could get to it either through outlook or IE. Could someone give me a tip on how to find it?

Can I run that from a USB drive? I'm loath to install anything onto her notebook.

I also found these instructions on a microsoft site:

You can delete or change the credentials that you store on your computer for logging on to websites or other computers on a network. For more information about stored credentials, see Store passwords, certificates, and other credentials for automatic logon.
1. Click to open User Accounts.
2. In the left pane, click Manage your credentials.
3. Click the vault that contains the credential that you want to manage.
4. Select the credential you want to manage.
5. Click Edit, make the change you want, and then click Save.

Comments on that thread suggest that this doesn't reveal many (80%+) passwords, but hotmail is one that is usually there.

Like all NirSoft utilities, you can download the zip file and unzip it to a folder on a USB drive, then run the .exe from there.
