No read permissions on Msysrelationships

Post by matthewR »

I am attaching an error message I am getting. Can you explain why I am getting this and what I can do. If I can get an explanation that would be a good start.

MSysRelationships is a hidden system table used by Access to keep track of the relationships between the tables.
Apparently Cognos tries to access this table.
Try the following.

Open the database in Access.
Right-click the bar at the top of the Navigation Pane,
Select 'Navigation Options...' from the context menu.
Tick the check boxes for 'Show Hidden Objects' and 'Show System Objects'.
Click OK.

(You should now be able to see MSysRelationships and other system tables in the Navigation Pane.)
In Access 2007, activate the Database Tools tab of the ribbon. Click Users & Permissions > User and Group Permissions...
In Access 2010, activate the File tab of the ribbon, then click Info, then Users & Permissions > User and Group Permissions...
Select MSysRelationships in the list of objects.
Tick the check box 'Read Design'.
Click OK.

You may want to hide System Objects again - normally, it's not a good idea to leave them visible.

Best wishes,

Thanks Hans that is exactly what was needed. I checked Read Data and that worked. Thank you so much.
