nz function throws a pivot chart

Post by grovelli »

On the startup form of the attached mdb, select 1/12/2011 as begin date and 31/12/2011 as end date and select Portate on the option group and click the Grafico button.
Everything runs fine and the pivot chart is displayed.
How come if I modify the control source of the Testo122 text box in the frmPortate form from
=[p_tot]-[pm_rit]
to
=[p_tot]-nz([pm_rit])
and run the pivot chart again all the lines in the pivot chart disappear?

I'm using Access 2010 so I had to remove the Calendar control.
This is what I get when I click the Grafico button:
Without_Nz.png
And if I change the control source to =[p_tot]-nz([pm_rit]):
With_Nz.png

That's exactly what I'm aiming for! Well I use Access 2007 and the pivot chart throws a tantrum, could you please convert your file with the working pivot chart into Access 2007 and attach it to your reply or a new message? Thank you Hans :-)

Thank you, I opened it in 2007 and all the pivot chart lines are missing(see picture), do you have a chance to try it out in 2007?

Sorry, no, I only have access :pun: to Access 2010, not to Access 2007.

I just tried this using Access 2007 and the chart has no lines. I also tried it under Access 2010 and I get the same display as Hans.

Thanks for testing, Stuart! Now we know that it's a problem of Access 2007, not of Giorgio's installation.

Thanks Hans & Stuart, I suppose the "hotfix" is to move over to 2010 only that my company installed 2007 last April so it's going to be some time before that happens.

I got the same problem in 2007 however if you change the query and put the nz in there it fixes the problem.
