Setting default control properties

Post by Mark L »

In Access2003 and before, you could easily select a particular control and set it as the Default for all the properties for all new controls (of same object type) that you then added to the Form. Anyone know how to do this in Access2007?

The idea is the same, I think. You have two options:

1) Set default properties before adding a control:
- Open the form in design view.
- If necessary, activate the Design tab of the ribbon.
- Click on the control type that you want to set default properties for in the Controls section of the ribbon.
- Do not click on the form yet!
- Set the properties that you want.
- All new controls of that type that you place on the form will have the properties that you have set.

- or -

2) Set default properties from an existing control:
- Open the form in design view.
- Select the control that you want to use as default.
- Activate the Design tab of the ribbon, if necessary.
- Click on 'Set Control Defaults' in the Controls section of the ribbon.

Thanks Hans.

I absolutely could not find it! I was looking for the Text phrase, but I even passed the mouse over many of the icons, but apparently missed that one.

This is the first Access2007 db I've done completely from scratch; I figured it was about time I bit the bullet. The other ones have been converted after-the-fact from Access2003; so it was mostly just tweaking. I'm spending a lot of time like this, hunting for something that was moved.
