ADP reference

Post by Pat »

Has anyone got a good reference book on ADP development in Access 2003?

I'd prefer using an Access database (.mdb) with linked tables; Microsoft appears to provide only half-hearted support for Access projects (.adp).

As to books, you might consider Microsoft Access Projects with Microsoft SQL Server. It's a bit older, but the principles should still be valid.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans, i have no option on using an ADP on this project, i inherited it. I like you have only developed in MDP's in the past.

I am thinking of converting this ADP database back to an MDB.
Apart from the dbSeeChanges option in OpenRecordsets what are the other main differences?
Or is this task too big and time consuming?

Bound controls work a bit differently, but it should be doable.
Also, you can't edit views from an .mdb, you'll have to do that in SQL Server itself.

Microtools.us has an ADPtoMDB converter that is part of their Access Whiz series of products; I don't know if they provide it separately; you might try contacting them.
Best wishes,
Hans
