HTML Reports

Post by D Willett »

Hi. I'm looking at this subject with a view to create graphical reports and export as html to include in a website. I've not looked at this before but it seems quite a tricky subject to include formatting, images, charts etc to be shown as html.

Can any members offer any advice or links to good articles or examples?

Cheers

The export-to-HTML feature built into Access is very weak - only the text is exported, all graphical elements are discarded.

One option is to write your own code that creates HTML pages complete with graphics. A lot of work.

Another option is to use print-to-HTML software, comparable to print-to-PDF. For example: Aurelia Systems - you can download a free 30-day trial version.

Or export to PDF (built into Access 2007 and later), and make the PDF available on the website.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hi Hans
You would have thought Microsoft would have a solution for this, obviously not so..
I've had a look at Aurelia this morning, it may be something to work with. Allen Browne's site has some information on exporting data to html along with css which works pretty well but its only good for table style data. I was hoping to create a graphical dash for each of my clients.
But, great information from you as ever and appreciated.

Thanks again.
Cheers ...

Dave.

I'm afraid that Microsoft isn't interested in improving the desktop version of Access any more.

What version of Access are they interested in?
Could this be the start of a giant shift for us?

Focus has clearly shifted to web databases.

Thank you Hans.

I will probably use the Hybridise approach in future as VBA is not supported in Web Apps or Web Databases using Access.
