Access 7

Post by CharliesDaughter »

I have recently installed Office 7 and am getting error messages when opening my databases from previous versions. Can you tell me how to convert?

Thanks

What sort of error messages are you getting? Access 2007 should open anything from 2000 forward with no complaints. Are these security warnings that want to disable macros and VBA stuff? If so, you need to set trusted locations for databases using Access Options on the Office Button dropdown. Post back if you want some assistance in doing that.

I assume that you mean Access 2007 and Office 2007.

You don't need to convert databases to Access 2007 (.accdb) format; Access 2007 can work with databases in Access 2000 format and Access 2002/2003 format without conversion.

It's important to set up a folder as a Trusted Location, and to store your database:
- Click the Office button.
- Click Access Options.
- Click Trust Center in the left hand pane.
- Click the Trust Center Settings... button.
- Click Trusted Locations.
- Click Add New Location...
- Specify a folder.

If this doesn't help: what error messages do you get?
Best wishes,
Hans
