Comparing two runs

Post by BittenApple »

Hello team,
I need to compare two runs. Please view attached workbook. What is the best approach? Using Pivot tables?
How can I analyze/compare tab 1 and tab 2? How can I talk about it?

BittenApple

Please tell us in detail what you want to compare. Plans? Subplans? Measures? Plans and Subplans? Plans and Measures? ...
Best wishes,
Hans

Hello team,
I want to compare all population, Passed, NotPassed, Open: for plan against plan, subplan against subplan, measure against measure.
I though variance can be a good means to compare, but on what other functionalities we can compare them. Min and Max?
Regards,
bitten

You could indeed create pivot tables for each of the comparisons.
For a real comparison, you'd need to perform statistical analyses; you should consult a professional statistician about that - it's very easy to make grave mistakes.

Hello Hans,
Thanks for the heads up.

I assumed that I can use getpivotdata to bring the data into cells and calculate a variance only.
And do a max or min on the next step.

What do you mean real analysis?

I found another function, I am not sure I am saying it correct: Anova...!!!, which is an adds on to Excel.

Thanks,
bita

ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) is a powerful tool, but you really need a professional statistician to assist you with that. Non-professionals can easily draw incorrect conclusions.
