Structural advice (2003 SP3)

Post by steveh »

Good morning

Before I even think about making a formula for this would somebody be kind enough to take a look over the structure of the table to see if it makes sense.

I have tried to base it on some advice from Hans whereby he used a cumulative set of data based on weight breaks and one base rate.

This tariff is compounded by the fact that there are 3 different base rates to be considered for different shipment types so I have made 3 different cumulative data tables that will be referenced by the eventual formula.

Please go back to the workbooks that I attached in previous threads, and take a careful look at the way they are structured.
For example, to be able to use the column headings in row 24 for lookup purposes, they need to contain numbers.
And I would recommend to use formulas for the cumulative values (as I did); if the rates or break values change, the cumulative values will be updated automatically.
Best wishes,
Hans

 Cheers Hans

You won't believe it but looking at the original was what I tried to do

My next task was to use your detailed breakdown to try and do the code myself. Given that I have made the right changes to the header columns as you say above is the structure now suitable to try and make the 3 formulas for the different job types so that I can then try and group them later into 1 formula?

Thanks
Steve

Yes, if you take it step by step, that should be possible.
Best wishes,
Hans
