"Word automatically saved changes to Normal template"
Why does Word 2003 give me this message when restarting Word after Word crashes: "Word automatically saved changes to Normal template" when I didn't even make any changes to the Normal template since last opening Word?

Perhaps Word had parked something in Normal.dot and had temporarily marked it as "changed", then crashed before Word could un-mark it changed?jmt356 wrote:... when I didn't even make any changes ...
This will sound really weird: If you could load up Word and you do absolutely nothing and still make Word crash and see the error message, you'd be on to something!

Some add-ins make changes to Normal.dot involving toolbars or menus, so it may be that's what was saved. However, you'll probably never know, because Word doesn't have any way to show you unsaved changes for a template.
