I don't know how better to explain it in the subject line, apologies!
Visually below I can provide an image to show what I mean of course (attached).
When the table goes off the page margin, how do we shrink it or control it so it can be manipulated again? It has gone way off the page, thus meaning I can't make it smaller or retrieve the missing text.

Right-click anywhere in the table.
Select 'Table Properties...' from the context menu.
If necessary, activate the Table tab.
Make sure that the 'Preferred width' check box is ticked, and change the width from whatever it is now to something that will fit on the page, for example 6" / 15 cm for a portrait page, or 9" / 22.5 cm for a landscape page.
Click OK.

Another approach that I use is to switch word to Web Layout view (using the icon at the bottom of the screen near the Zoom control). This enables you to see the full width of the document.
