Hi Folks,
The keyboard shortcut in Win7 for Task Manager is Ctrl+Shift+esc, the other method gives more options, Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Just how accurate do you have to be, to get it to work. Is their an easier method? My computer froze recently, when attempting to read a post in Windows Secrets Lounge, making the usual method of right clicking task bar unusable.

Re: Task Manager
Ctrl+Shift+Esc is the easiest way I know of: hold down Ctrl and Shift, press and immediately release Esc, then release Ctrl and Shift.
Best wishes,
Hans

Re: Task Manager
Unfortunately, if your PC is really frozen then keyboard input probably won't do any better than right clicking the Taskbar. It is still good to know alternate methods for starting Task Manager though.

Re: Task Manager
Are the key combinations above correct? When I press Ctrl+Alt+Delete I get a choice of selections, one of which is Task Manager. On the other hand, if I press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, I get the Start Menu.

Paul

Re: Task Manager
Does your Shift key work?
Ctrl+Esc should activate the Start Menu, and Ctrl+Shift+Esc should activate the Task Manager.
Ctrl+Alt+Delete should display a dialog or screen with options such as Lock the computer, Switch to another user etc.
This applies to Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (at the least).

I'm hooked.HansV wrote:Ctrl+Shift+Esc is the easiest way I know of:
Unless the machine is frozen (as suggested earlier), Ctrl-Shift-Esc loads Task manager directly, whereas Ctrl-Alt-Del requires me to choose Task manager, and
bonus points:
Ctrl-Shift-Esc appears to load me into the Most-Recently-Used pane.
Thus, If I'm monitoring "Performance", Ctrl-Shift-Esc will take me into "Performance" each time.

My initial method was to closely coordinate the 3 keys with limited success.HansV wrote:Ctrl+Shift+Esc is the easiest way I know of: hold down Ctrl and Shift, press and immediately release Esc, then release Ctrl and Shift.

Re: Task Manager
I failed to mention, that my attempts to, were done with FF, WLM & my defrag program open, not all at the same time.
