As the article says, if you have kept Windows 7 updated, there is no urgent need to install SP1 immediately - it's mostly a rollup of all updates and fixes released since the original version, and no really exciting new features.
But it's a good idea to install SP1 eventually. At some point in the future, Microsoft will no doubt require SP1 to be installed if you want a new version of some software.
Best wishes,
Hans

If you review "Hotfixes and Security Updates included in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1.xls" at Documentation for SP-1 you'll see that SP-1 includes fixes that were not released to the public. While it is may not be urgent that you install SP-1 you should plan on doing so in the near future.
