I have found that searching non-indexed locations in Windows 7 to be unreliable. So, on machines where I'm concerned about content in such folders as Program Files I change the indexed locations to include those that are non-indexed by default. Once I have the locations set to index I force the index to be rebuilt.

Re: Advanced Search
I have read about that while doing the google searches I did. Does it slow the search way down as I have read?

Re: Advanced Search
I often use the search box on the start bar & I have not noticed a slow down. If you frequently search in what are normally non-indexed areas it will speed things up. It will take somewhat longer to rebuild the index.
