Can the text identifying icons be changed and bolded in Windows 7 similar to how they could be in XP? If so how? I have found articles that talk about DPI and Clear Type Text but have found no way to change the font or bold what I have now.
Thanks.

Right click an empty part of the desktop
Select Personalize from the popup menu.
Click on Window Color at the bottom of the window.
Click "Advanced appearance settings..."
Select Icon from the Item dropdown list.
Click the B (=Bold) button.
Click Apply to see if you like the effect.
Finally click OK.

Some things are very easy in Windows 7, others have been buried deeply - this is one of them...

That is magic! Thank you Hans- I had no idea that I could aid my ageing eyes by bolding the icon text! Explorer text is also bolded by this manoeuvre- an absolute asset.

Re: Desktop's Icon Text
I agree and it was so much easier to find in XP. That is where I got used to it. I'm glad it is still available even though it is pretty well hidden.Amelia43 wrote:That is magic!
