Hi, folks!
I am looking for book recommendations for Win 7, specifically 64 bit, that explain <simply> the inner workings of the OS and how things work, where to find things etc.
My own history in 'puters goes back to before DOS 2.something and forward from there. It seems each new OS adds layers to keep the end user further and further from the greasy innerworkings. Win 7 has been pretty successfull in keeping me on the shiney surface but I need to be able to understand and work at a deeper level and am looking for a good, informative book(s) on the subject.
thanks,
Cellmate

Re: Book Recommendations
Here are two books that treat Windows 7 in more depth than the average book. Make sure to read the reviews:
Microsoft Windows 7 Unleashed
Windows 7 Inside Out
And a book by SysInternals specialist Mark Russinovitch; it's not about Windows 7 but contains a lot of in-depth information:

Re: Book Recommendations
In addition to those mentioned by Hans another good one is Windows 7 Secrets by Paul Thurrott and Rafael Rivera. I have found both Windows 7 Secrets and Windows 7 Inside Out very helpful.Cellmate wrote:Hi, folks!
