That is probably quite normal. Some RAM is reserved for use by hardware. And if you have graphics support integrated on the motherboard of your computer, and not a separate graphics card, some of your RAM will be used for graphics. So how much is actually available to you depends on your configuration.
Best wishes,
Hans

Thanks Hans fro the quick reply,

how much deduction is normal and its not related to the wrong choice of the windows version, for example i have seen a laptop with 8GB ram installed but it shows 2.47GB usable as its windows 7 32 bit version.

I don't have exact information, but I'd say that anything above 7 GB is 'normal'.

Also see The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers.
Best wishes,
Hans

Regarding the "laptop with 8GB ram installed but it shows 2.47GB usable as its windows 7 32 bit version", see the Answer in the thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... b599b31bf5.

The 32-bit OS can't "see" any more than 4GB, so it doesn't make any sense to install 8GB of physical RAM in that machine. Alternatively, to use the 8GB, you would have to install a 64-bit OS.
