Reappearance of KB2952664

Post by AlanMiller »

I just had this update reappear as "Important". IIRC, it was the notorious one that "converted" people to Windows 10 without their knowledge/ permission.
This posting suggests I can ignore/ hide it. Any opinions here? Is it in any way different from the original controversial one?

I think it's basically the same one. Microsoft keeps on reissuing it in the hope of luring more users to Windows 10. You can hide it again.
Best wishes,
Hans

Maybe it's me, but your two links appear identical...

This is an update which checks the compatibility for upgrading. It does nothing to force an upgrade. From the KB article:

"his update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. The diagnostics evaluate the compatibility status of the Windows ecosystem, and help Microsoft to ensure application and device compatibility for all updates to Windows. There is no GWX or upgrade functionality contained in this update. "
