Error 80070002 Updates Were Not Installed

Post by armsys »

Windows 7 is more unstable and unreliable than all previous versions.
Installation of latest Microsoft products on Win 7 x64 platform is always a big issue.
Now I encounter Windows Update issue.
Definitely the update in question is successfully downloaded, but unsuccessfully installed.
Referring to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, I received the error code: 800700002.
910336 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services
I have tried out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It failed too.
Do you have a cue? Please help.
Regards,
Armstrong

Is this a clean install or a Upgraded from XP or Vista?

I have found that a Clean install on a New hardware or a Vista built hardware, that Windows 7 is very stable, in fact better than XP.

Joe,
I appreciate for your help. I didn't find your supplied URL. It was last published on Dec 5, 2007, Most info appears to be obsolete. Windows 7 X64 was unknown there.
Win 7 is more sensitive, vulnerable and corruptible than Win XP. More Permission/Right/Security Policy features are added into Win 7.

Hi Dave,
This is Win 7 Ultra x64 on Dell T3500.
I've just clean-installed it two days ago.
Indeed, clean install is always the only solution to Win 7 problems, but you lose all programs and account settings.
For very basic config, yes, I agree with you that Win 7 is better than XP.

Check out Microsoft Update Solution Center. Also, search around the Windows Update Forum.

Armstrong,

I am sorry for you that you have so many problems with installing software and updates, but please don't make such sweeping statements. Many, if not most Windows 7 users have experienced few problems, and even the 64-bit version, for which fewer drivers are available, is relatively trouble-free. I'm hearing far fewer complaints about Windows 7 than about Windows Vista in the first months after its release.

Perhaps you have a particular combination of hardware and software that causes problems. I agree that it is very annoying, but it doesn't justify condemning the whole OS.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hans,
I'm sorry for your unfortunate misunderstanding and misinterpretation.
I merely stated the facts as it is. It solely represents my own experience as indicated in my original post, no more and no less.
By quoting out of context, you put "condemning" and "sweeping" into my mouth.
On the other hand, apparently your argument was based upon hearsays and generalizations. You have never mentioned your experiences in constant BSOD, corrupt BCD, Windows Installer failure, incompatibilities between Office 2010 32/64 with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 in Asian languages, and many more, which I went through every day for the last 3 months.
Nonetheless, I'm hopeful Microsoft will solve my issues raised here. It's just a matter of time.
I was expecting helpful technical solutions here. Obviously, it isn't the case.
Thanks for your kind understanding.
Regards,
Armstrong

Armstrong,

I'm not trying to belittle the problems you're having. As I mentioned, I agree that it's very annoying.

If you had written "I have had more problems with stability and reliability in Windows 7 than in all previous versions", nobody could have objected. But by writing "Windows 7 is more unstable and unreliable than all previous versions" you made a very general statement condemning Windows 7 as a whole, which is not justified in my opinion.

I am not an expert in this kind of problem, so sadly I cannot help you. If I had known of a helpful suggestion or solution, I would have offered it, of course.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hans,
You're always my teacher. You taught me many tricks in Word and Access.
Indeed, I wished I could have used your phase "I have had more problems..."
Unfortunately, it wasn't perfect. It was created under fire--the total loss of Win 7.

Armstrong
