Problem with password

Post by AlanMiller »

Like my new pseudonym says, I seem to have been locked out of the Lounge.
:whisper: It's actually just me... Alan Miller
Something screwed up at my end I think, and I couldn't log in. I sent for and received by e-mail, a new password, but it wouldn't work, so now AlanMiller is locked out :weep:

I don't know if this might be the Lounge (I'm guessing I might be the first "lost password" victim). I'll await advice on how to best trace this issue.

Alan... or is that LockedOut?

Can you try the 'Delete this board's cookies' link at the bottom of the Board index page, then try your new password again?

If that doesn't work, I'll manually change it. (I'd rather find a method that works than forcing the change  )

I have changed your password and sent the new one to the registered email address for user AlanMiller.

(Sorry Leif I hadn't seen your post when I did this)

Well, if his previous new password didn't work, there is a chance the one you gave him won't either, so we may still find out if it's a cookie issue!

Thanks both Leif & Stuart. But no joy I'm afraid. I cleaned out everything from IE8 (can't see that 'Delete this board's cookies' link though, I'm afraid) and no luck. Then tried FF, which has never "seen" this board before, cleared all history and no luck. I was trying with your latest password Stuart.

I guess I can't delete myself from my end, since I can't log myself in. Would it be easiest to erase AlanMiller from server, then recreate him? ... yeah, I know, "or not bother with the reincarnation" - just covering my :moon: before somebody else gets in first!

Let's wait until Claude and/or Mike have had a chance to think about what it could be.

(You are not running any Trend Micro product by any chance?)

And I presume you've done a reboot?

Did you use the link at the bottom of the Lounge page to delete your Lounge cookies?

Couldn't see it first time round (dunno why?) so I deleted any/all eileenslounge.com cookies manually. Once I did see the link, I tried using that method, but still no luck.

If it simplifies things, we could simply reverse your user names and lock out your original membership? (Perhaps changing the first to AlanMiller1 so the natives don't get confused.)

That sounds like a good idea Leif. Is that possible to do all from the server end, or do I need to recreate my original name from here?

Hi Alan,

If you log out now, I can change AlanMiller to AlanMiller1 and LockedOut to AlanMiller.
Best wishes,

Please note: I have applied the change. So you should now be able to log in with as AlanMiller but with the password that you used for LockedOut.

You can change the password, of course. I hope it'll work!
Best wishes,
Hans
