Is there a way to customize the User Control Panel to display only the forums I have an interest in?
Formerly called Personal Control Panel, I think.
Oh, another question. Is there a spell checker for posts somewhere?
I really use that!

For the spell checker, if using IE, the IE7Pro add-on adds spell checking functionality to any text area.

Didn't that show up as a clickable icon in that "other place?"DaveA wrote:I use IE Spell from http://www.iespell.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Don't see any built in checker here?
The Google toolbar has one too, so I could go back to using that one, I suppose.

Re: Customize Control Panel?
The software we're running on now doesn't have an equivalent of the personal control panel in the old board, unfortunately. But some skins such as Rainbow Pearl let you collapse categories you're not interested in.
Best wishes,
Hans

Hah, I'm just glad to have this place; and then it doesn't take a minute before you all start asking for new features!
I've been experimenting with different skins, personally I like the subsilver2 (I checked some at the beginning, then I think Stuart mentioned subsilver2) as an alternative to the default (prosilver) (which also is very good). As we all know from other places, it isn't only the look that changes. Sometimes some more: "Your posts" are shown with a preview in the default prosilver, but not in subsilver2; the Submit button (in Edit global settings) is to the right in prosilver, but to the left in subsilver2 etc.
But for this, "only the forums I have an interest in", I have used a combination of "View unread posts", scanning all forums via the index page, and thread subscriptions. But hey, so far we haven't got that many posts; you can almost memorize every word so far.
Buuuut, I am going to start using this: Subscribe forum

Re: Customize Control Panel?
I have merged the two replies from the other thread into this one, and I'll delete the other thread (since it now only contains a duplicate of the first post in this one).
Best wishes,
Hans

You might as well get rid of my post and the reply, then! Oh, and this one! (But I'll be keeping a close eye on the post count...!! )

Re: Customize Control Panel?
Bob and Argus: See the thread at: Email Notice and Subscriptions.
I tried the method mentioned by Argus and it DOES provide a nice "substitute" for The Lounge's Index page, but...
I hate all the email notices of EVERY post in EVERY ONE of the forums. I'm here every day and don't need a flood of emails to tell me that there have been posts in a forum that I'm interested it.
For now, I've decided to just continue using the Index page and "ignoring" the Word, Excel and other subsets but remember to note that Hans said there may be a skin or two that would let you collapse that section if needed.

Re: Customize Control Panel?
Nah, it's not that important. (I'd have to write a reply that I removed several replies, to which you'd reply that... ad infinitum)
Best wishes,
Hans

I DO use Rainbow Pearl ( nice ) and was able to collapse one category, so it helps somewhat.HansV wrote:The software we're running on now doesn't have an equivalent of the personal control panel in the old board, unfortunately. Just a matter of getting used to this new format, which is a HUGE improvement over another place that comes to mind.
