Attach vs. Inline

I just made a post in Scuttlebut.
I added an image.
Usually I use the InLine button to lob the image adjacent to the paragraph of text, but this time I paused.

If I just Browse/Add an attachment it still shows up in the post, doesn't it?
But it shows at the bottom of the post.

There seems to be no advantage from the viewing aspect whether I just attach the image file or place it inline at the foot of the message.
To the viewing Lounger the appearance is the same.

Is there any side-effect about NOT using InLine? For example, does it make it harder to reply/edit a post?

I think my question applies only to (viewable) images, but I suspect that I might be using InLine for, say, DOCuments if I am proposing two or three samples and would like to place the link with the relevant descriptive paragraph.

P.S. I think the correct answer to all these questions ought to be "TEST Area, Chris, Test Area!"

By default images appear at the end of the post. If you want the image to appear anywhere else then you need to place it inline.

In addition to Stuart's reply: if you place an image inline and someone quotes your post in a reply, you'll see the filename instead of the image in the quote. Images that haven't been placed inline aren't included in the quote at all.

Thanks Stuart; I got that, but can't/couldn't see the difference when it comes to viewing (as distinct from manipulating the post at a later date)

UUsing InLine, even for an image like mine that can appear at the end anyway, might serve to reduce reply size, or even effort-to-reply (as in "Dang! I'd better remove that attachment from my reply ...").

I felt the subject line said it all, so no need for any text.
Bzzzzz! "Your message contains too little text" or similar.
Typed a space.
Bzzzzz! "Your message contains too little text" or similar.

Clicked "place inline" (which makes no difference to what the reader sees)
"Oh, OK then; that'll do fine, thank you; here's your preview".

The minimum length of a post is 1 character. Typing a space won't help, for leading and trailing spaces are removed.

But the Lounge software isn't all that intelligent. If you place an image (or any attachment, really) inline, the composing area will contain a lot of characters, so the software is satisfied...

in this post I had three images to attach.
The files on my system are DSCN3789.JPG, DSCN3790.JPG and DSCN3791.JPG.
They form a sequence, and I uploaded them in the sequence shown above.
I decided NOT to place them inline.

To my surprise they appeared in reverse sequence in the Preview pane.
That is, "91" appeared above "90" and "89" was at the foot of the message.

I had earlier asked about the distinction between Attached and Inline.
The behaviour noted above is another distinction, I feel.
